Mashpee Commons Mashpee Rotary, Route 28 & 151, Mashpee 508-477-5400 Festival marketplace reminiscent of a traditional New England village. Over 90 stores, including such national retailers as Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Chico’s, Claire Murray, Gap, Pottery Barn and William Sonoma. Fine art, crafts and collectibles, home furnishings, toys, jewelry. Numerous cafes and fine dining opportunities, 6-screen cinema.
Cape Cod Mall Route 28 & 132, Hyannis 508-771-0200 Enclosed, one-floor. Anchored by Filene’s, Macy’s and Sears; 118 additional retailers including Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, Talbot’s, Gap, Gap Kids, Eddie Bauer, J. Lemon Tree Village Main St., Brewster (Rte. 6A, about 1 mi west of town center) 508- Lemon Tree Village is a bi-level shopping complex of 17 unique shops for garden statuary, gourmet cooking implements, locally made arts and crafts, pottery, birding supplies, clothing, gifts, jewelry and toys. Small café adjacent. Hours: 10 am-5 pm. daily, year-round.
Route 6A
Route 6A, also known as the Olde King’s Highway, extends 34 miles to the east from the town of Bourne, passing through the towns of Sandwich, Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis Brewster and Orleans. This roadway, the longest contiguous historic district in the country, is regulated by the tight constraints of the Old King’s Highway Historic Commission. Not only is the road both scenic and historic, but it is also the longest contiguous shopping district on Cape Cod, rimmed by hundreds of quaint shops where one may discover the most unique gifts and collectibles.
Here a plethora of fine antique shops keeps company with the shops of fine craftsmen selling handcrafted lanterns, ironworks, baskets, weather instruments, fine jewelry, pottery, fine art, cuckoo clocks, birdbaths and home and garden items. Here is the place to shop for glass – Sandwich glass, Cranberry glass and Sydenstricker glass, along with books new and used, gourmet cookware, quilting and knitting supplies, and delightful gifts and home accessories. Tucked amid these shops are whimsical little places to purchase Christmas collectibles, Cape Cod Angels, antique maps and nautical items, along with an herbal apothecary and a hand weaving shop.
Main Streets
Dropping in and out of shops along the main streets of many of our unique towns is a delightful pastime. Since the towns of Falmouth, Hyannis, Chatham and Provincetown possess eminently walkable Main Streets, it is to those towns that we gravitate for hours of afternoon shopping at a leisurely pace.
Main Street, Falmouth Shops for one-of-a-kind gifts, home accessories, fine men’s and women’s clothing, casual apparel, housewares, books, art and antiques. Plenty of restaurants in which to enjoy a bite to eat.
Main Street, Hyannis Shops for vintage clothing, designer clothing, casual clothing and beachwear, fine leather products, gourmet cookware, candles, housewares and home accessories, antiques, homemade fudge and taffy, sporting goods, Army/Navy surplus, fine art, and, of course, souvenier shopping. Plenty of restaurants and ice cream shops, plus mini-golf and a children’s carousel.
Main Street, Chatham Though many consider the town of Chatham a treasure in itself, the chic retail shops that line her lively main street provide even more opportunities for treasure-seekers - casual resort wear, children's clothing, vintage clothing, contemporary art, fine arts and crafts, handmade gold jewelry, antiques and accessories, lightship baskets, fine linens, gourmet cookware, home furnishings and accessories. Of course there are also bookstores , places to buy souvenir tee shirts, a candy store, a jam and jelly shop, and there's even a shop devoted to tie-dyes and other 1960's memorabilia. Plenty of restaurants, both casual and upscale.
Main Street, Provincetown (Commercial Street) Funky, colorful and a little on the wild side is a shopping expedition along Provincetown’s main street, Commercial Street. Along with excellent restaurants and carry-out food vendors, you will find magnificent views of Provincetown Harbor and extraordinary people-watching opportunities.
In addition to art galleries galore, you will find shops that carry, well, just about everything: fine handcrafted jewelry, antique jewelry, books, gemstones, fine toiletries, wacky headgear, fun art to wear, clothing for beloved pets, Tiffany lamps, international folk art, children’s clothing, chic women’s fashions, hip men’s apparel, unusual kites, home accessories, Army/Navy surplus items, leather products, alternative lifestyle merchandise, and all-natural products.
Most shops are open from mid-April through mid-October. In summer, many shops remain open until 11 pm. Shops that stay open year-round are often open only on weekends during the quietest months of January through March.
